WHAT IS RE-CERTIFICATION?
Re-certification is a process required to unlock CNet accounts that have been locked by the University's Network Security Office. This will often happen because there has been some evidence that the account has been compromised, and is being used by someone other than the official owner of the CNetID. Re-certification will ensure that the proper CNetID user has changed their CNet password to a new secure password. The re-certification process includes:
- Verification of the proper CNet account owner.
- Choosing a new password.
- Setting up a Question and Answer in order to aid you in the future, should you forget or wish to change your CNet password.
HOW DO I RE-CERTIFY?
Re-certification is an easy, quick process. On the next few pages, you'll complete the following steps:
- You will be asked to identify yourself and provide your birthdate.
- If you have not done so in the past, you'll be asked to provide a question to which only you know the answer. This will allow us to be confirm your identity should you forget or wish to change your password in the future.
- You'll then be asked to create a NEW secure password. Guidelines on creating a secure password will be provided.
- Our system will double-check your password to ensure that it meets our security guidelines. If your new password passes the test, the process is complete.
Remember that you are responsible for the security of your accounts. Do not share your passwords.
