Autumn 2006 Incoming Students: New students admitted to the College and graduate divisions will be able to claim their CNetIDs starting May 17. If you do not have a U.S. Social Security number, please wait to receive your University student ID number (UCID) in the mail before claiming your CNetID. If you already have some of your NSIT account services, you will not see all the steps described below. You will see only those steps which will enable you to claim the full suite of NSIT account services available to you at this time. On the next page, you will begin the process of claiming your NSIT account services. This is a two step process followed by a summary page. Please select your password carefully. Try to choose a password which is easy for you to remember so that you don't need to write it down. It should also be hard for others to guess. Some tips for selecting good passwords are available. Remember that you are responsible for the security of your accounts. Do not share your passwords. After providing identification information you will be asked to choose a CNetID. Please remember that once you have chosen your CNetID, you will not be able to change it. Choose a CNetID that you can live with for the duration of your association with the University. After you have chosen a CNetID, you will be asked to create your CNet password and to submit a 'Question/Answer' pair of statements. Should you forget this password in the future, but can provide the correct Answer to your Question, you will be able to reset your password. Finally, after clicking on the "Submit" button, a summary page will appear displaying your CNetID, your email address, and confirmation of the accounts which have been established for you. Your use of any resources provided by Networking Services and Information Technologies is contingent upon compliance with the University of Chicago's Policy on Eligibility and Acceptable Use of Information Technologies. Any violation of this policy will result in immediate suspension or termination of account privileges. Your NSIT CNetID and CNet password will be available until you graduate or terminate your employment with the University of Chicago. Please select the Submit button to create your accounts.
